The History of Birch Stream Farms
Our family started the company in 1998 providing meals to aircraft at Bangor International Airport. This included providing five star gourmet meals to private corporate aircraft for heads of state, entertainment celebrities, sports figures, and corporate executives. After a few years, we renovated the facilities to begin fresh frozen food manufacturing under USDA inspection. The first customers were business class meals sold to many of North America’s leading airlines. We went on to develop a line of therapeutic medical meals for the airline market and we ship our meals across the US and Canada.
Nearly a decade ago the product line was expanded as we partnered with local Agencies on Aging to deliver nutritious high-quality meals. Our Meals on Wheels choices have grown to include many options with a wide variety of flavors. We offer many of the Maine traditional comfort foods like, chicken pot pie, boiled dinner, and hot dogs and beans. Senior nutrition has become a very important concern in recent years, and we have developed a large line of healthy choices. Our selection includes low sodium, heart friendly, renal friendly, diabetic friendly, gluten free, and puréed meals.
In the last few years the company has expanded yet again. We now offer co-packing and private label services. We produce food components and complete meals for other companies under their label for the retail market. These include a line of seafood pot pies, lobster stuffing, a line of flavored meatballs, and diabetic entrées.
